A Dani Johson Review

I have been a huge fan of Dani Johnson for a while now. She is an amazing communicator. She has a website with oodles of articles, recorded conference calls and videos that are an invaluable resource of training and information for a small monthly fee. Also personally like that fact that she teaches on a spiritual level as well.
Her story is an inspiration. After an upbringing of poverty and abuse, she eventually found herself completely broke & homeless living out of her car on a beach. She had had some success previously in a network marketing business so with nothing to lose, she passed out a hand-written a flyer, got a voice mail number for the ad, and began returning calls from prospects from a telephone booth. To make a long story short, she went from rags to riches and now she is teaching everyone her formula for success.
I have listened to countless conference calls on Dani Johnson"s website, listened to her North Carolina CDs over and over, and read numerous articles. Basically, she gives you the same instructions to write down your 100 resources of people you know, tells you how to approach strangers (wearing t-shirts or buttons, etc.), and how to call leads. Depending on how many hours you work on your business each day you could be calling anywhere from 50-300 leads per day.
Have you ever called leads? I have. It"s not fun. I had her scripts in front of me, but often I couldn"t get past the first sentence because I got hung up on...Maybe it was because I was purchasing cheap leads. But honestly, I couldn"t afford more expensive ones! I still wasn"t making a profit in my business and my husband was becoming less and less supportive. You get the picture.
That"s when I began to wonder...what about the internet? Why doesn"t she do any teaching on how to use the internet to get leads?( I mean, other than how some annoying people use Facebook to push their business every chance they get??! Hello! Social media is all about being social not pushy!!) There HAS to be a way.
And there IS. There are actually a lot of simple strategies like "personal branding" and "attraction marketing" that you can use to build your business, and it"s way funner than calling leads.
Back to Dani Johnson...it IS a mystery to me why she doesn"t integrate using internet marketing as part of her repertoire . I mean, I get probably one email a day from her promoting her First Steps seminars and products, so obviously she"s using internet marketing to build her own business.
Now, don"t get me wrong. I"m not saying Dani is deliberately being evasive. I guess I"m just saying she"s a little, well, "old school." I"m sure it works for many people, it just didn"t really work for me. I will never buy another lead because I"ve got leads coming to me. Isn"t that crazy??
I"m still a member of her website because I love to listen to her teach on other subjects, especially now that she"s branched out on spiritual and family issues. But as for the business building stuff, I"ll be doing it "new school."
